Andrew Bird, internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, whistler, and songwriter, will perform a fundraiser event to benefit young musicians in the spirit of his appearance with our very own late great Bob Dorough.
A limited-edition silk screen poster is included with your ticket purchase. The performance is being held at the Deer Head Inn, the oldest continuously running jazz club in the country, on May 15, 2019. Show will begin at 7, with doors opening at 6 pm.
Bob Dorough, NEA Jazz Master best known for his performances and compositions for the ’70s and ’80s children’s series Schoolhouse Rock, performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City with Andrew Bird on December 13, 2016.
Proceeds from the evening will benefit Celebration of the Arts (COTA) Camp Jazz. Camp Jazz was founded in 2007 by NEA Jazz Master Phil Woods and Rick Chamberlain. COTA Camp Jazz is a week-long camp that embraces all instrumental and vocal learners age 12 and up. Throughout the week, world-class faculty and special guests present master classes and offer in-depth Q & A’s on “all things jazz.”
The evening will begin with a special opening set from the young COTA Cats / Jazz Camp players plus alumni, performing selections from the American Jazz Songbook.
Seating will be first come, first served. Tables will be shared.
Dinner/table service (not included) is 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
