NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman will be holding a year-long commemoration to honor John Coltrane’s 90th birthday, Liebman’s 70th birthday, and the 50th anniversary of Coltrane’s death. Later this year there will be a release of  “Compassion” originally recorded in 2007 for the BBC (release by Resonance Records) featuring Lieb and Joe Lovano with an all-star rhythm section playing a wide variety of the Coltrane repertoire. 

Lieb is one of the world’s most respected Coltrane performers, scholars, and lecturers. as noted below. Several articles are accessible on the Educational Articles page of his website:
