Good Old Fashioned Jazz
Randy Reinhart, cornet; Jay Rattman, clarinet; Rick Chamberlain, trombone;
Nick Russo, guitar; Jim Daniels, tuba

“Good old fashioned jazz” as performed by a quintet comprised of friends, both some
new and some old, reaching into that bag of laid back tunes mainly from the “Great
American Songbook”.

Guitarist Nick Russo is smiling because after playing literally ‘Around the World’
he is finally performing at the Deer Head Inn in Delaware Water Gap, PA.

A former resident and performer will be Randy Reinhart on cornet. More old
friends will include Jim Daniels on tuba, Jay Rattman on clarinet and Rick
Chamberlain on trombone. Be ready for a tune or two from the
Innkeeper/vocalist, Denny Carrig.

Chamberlain first performed with Randy Reinhart with Paul Lavalle and the
“Band of America” on a grueling bicentennial tour in 1976 – they managed to
get through that tour and kept in touch through the years. Rick met Nick Russo
– the son-in-law of a NYC Ballet musician who met Denny in Saratoga Springs
performing at an Orchestra picnic. This lead to getting the local tune stylist
Jay Rattman who also performs with Nick and Randy in the historical jazz
circuit along with Jim Daniels. Jim and Rick have been playing together in
so many circles together since the 70’s with Mulligan and Mangione.
Well – we said that sometime we had to get together and play and November 23rd
is it. It should be a good and grounded eclectic bunch of musicians having a good
time together at the Deer Head Inn!

Monday, November 24, 7:30 to 10:30 pm, music charge $10
(proceeds benefit COTA Camp Jazz)
Deer Head Inn Jazz Orchestra Presents
An 18-piece ensemble of COTA All Stars

The Deer Head Jazz Orchestra will perform arrangements and compositions from
the new album “Around The Horn”, the culmination of over 30 years of big band experience
from NYC based trumpeter Tony Kadleck. A veteran of several legendary big bands
(Maria Schneider, Buddy Rich, Bob Mintzer, John Fedchock, Joe Henderson, John
Hollenbeck, Ron Carter, etc.), Kadleck has always wanted to record his own
arrangements. He has drawn upon his vast experience to form his own unique
voice, which can be heard in both his playing and in his writing throughout this release.

For the Deer Head Jazz Orchestra, (members of the COTA Festival Orchestra), to be able
to perform this wonderful music is a fantastic opportunity for both the musicians and
audience alike.

The $10 cover charge will benefit the COTA Fund for Young Musicians that
administrates COTA CampJazz.
